Why hire a driver in Bali?
Because driving yourself is harder than it looks, and a local driver turns travel time into part of the trip.
- You need the right licence. A national licence on its own usually isn’t enough: the UK government’s travel advice, for example, says visitors need an International Driving Permit to drive in Indonesia.
- The traffic is hard work. The same advice describes traffic discipline as very poor, with a rise in motorbike accidents in Bali, and suggests considering a private driver or a car with a driver.
- No parking, no navigating. Your driver drops you at each stop and picks you up again, with your things safe in the car.
- Local knowledge. A Balinese driver knows the roads, the culture and where to eat.

How much does a private driver in Bali cost?
With us, a private car and driver is priced per car: 6 hours from IDR 450K, 10 hours from IDR 700K and 12 hours from IDR 900K. The final price depends on the area you want to visit and how often you use the service. Petrol, parking, patrol fees and mineral water are included.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car, whatever the number of passengers. Our ready-made day tours are different: they are priced per person and include entrance tickets.
Can I choose where we go?
Yes. It’s your car for the day: you pick the stops, how long you stay and the order, and you can add or skip stops on the way. If you’d like ideas, see our day tour itineraries.
Which areas do you pick up from?
Prices include pick-up in Denpasar, Badung and Ubud. Other areas of Bali have an extra charge for distance.
Can I keep the same driver for my whole holiday?
Yes. One car and one driver for your whole holiday, including airport pick-up and drop-off. If you check out of your hotel early, your luggage can stay safely in the car.
Do you have a female driver?
Yes, an experienced female Balinese driver is available. Just ask when you book.
Do you have child seats?
Child seats are available, just tell us when you book.
Can I drive myself in Bali instead?
Only with the right licence. The UK government’s travel advice, for example, says a UK driving licence alone isn’t valid in Indonesia and you need an International Driving Permit. It also describes traffic discipline as very poor and suggests considering a private driver or a car with a driver. Check with your travel insurance too.
Should I tip my driver?
Tips are not included in the price and are never required. If you want to thank your driver, it’s entirely up to you.
How do I book and pay?
Send us your date, hours, where you’re staying and the number of people on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm. Full payment, by cash or bank transfer. Payment and cancellation.
